During summer, it is easy to overlook beech trees.
But this time of year, when leaves are gone from mature beech and almost all other deciduous trees, the tan leaves of young beech trees give us some much-appreciated winter color.
Interlochen campers tell me that the trunks of beech trees remind them of elephant legs.
The smooth grey bark is thin, but not particularly insulating.
Beech trees grow in the eastern United States but they peter out just west of Lake Michigan.
Botanists speculate that away from the tempered lake climate, beech bark does not offer enough protection for winter survival.

Let me share, if you haven t tried the cocktails, wine or hard ciders in the can, you have not lived. Ok, that could be a bit dramatic, not only are cans just easier to make magically fit in the fridge? They take up less space in the recycling, and I think they are easier to put into a cooler to then be able to enjoy at your destination.
So, back to the new flavors and when you can actually get them in stores! There are two new offerings, a peach-mango and a strawberry. Both of the new beverages start with the Angry Orchard original cider as a base.

PEACHES EN REGALIA
Frank Zappa I was about 12. Me and my brother were cleaning out the basement at our old house and we found some dusty old records of Dad s. We didn t have an amp for the record player but there was a turntable, so we hooked it up and were just going through the records we liked the covers of. We were just crate-digging out of our dad s old record collection. We d always heard his music and been to his live gigs, he played in a lot of Cuban bands and jazz bands and that kind of thing. We were always around his music but this is the first time we went digging into the collection on our own.
